Meet David

David Manoguerra

I am a passionate visual artist based in Mission Viejo, California, and I invite you to join me on an optical adventure through every piece I create. My work is a celebration of contrasts—an intentional dance between order and chaos—where on occasion three-dimensional forms, geometric precision, and free-form spontaneity often collide in a vibrant array of color and texture.

My Roots and Creative Detours

  • Born and raised in San Francisco: From the foggy streets of the Bay Area to the sunlit hills of Southern California, my upbringing instilled in me a love of eclectic energy and artistic experimentation.
  • Advertising art student (incomplete): I embarked on formal training in advertising art, but life’s unexpected twists led me down many creative side streets—each one informing my unique visual language.
  • Pottery and functional art: I’ve worked primarily with clay      slab structures, and reclaimed building materials, designing everything from hand-made vessels to one-of-a-kind furniture pieces. These experiences taught me balance, material storytelling, and respect for “found” beauty.

My Philosophy

Ever since elementary school, when I first colored joyfully outside the lines, I’ve embraced the tension between structure and fluid design. I believe that art should feel alive—unpredictable yet thoughtfully composed. This duality is at the heart of my practice:

  • Order: Clean lines, geometric frameworks, and deliberate layering.
  • Chaos: Spontaneous brushstrokes, fluid lines, and exploring the world outside defined lines.

My Mediums and Methods

To bring my visions to life, I harness a diverse palette of tools and surfaces:

· Paints: Acrylics and watercolors for depth, transparency, and dynamic      color play

· Drawing: Pen and ink for fine detail and crisp contrasts

· Mixed media: Photographic elements, textiles, and reclaimed objects to infuse narrative and texture

· Three-dimensional work: Clay, epoxy, and fiberglass to push the boundaries of traditional wall art.

The result is a multi-layered experience—each piece invites you to peer into its depths and discover new details every time you look.

Let’s Explore Together

I’m thoroughly enjoying my creative journey, and nothing brings me greater satisfaction than sharing it with fellow art enthusiasts. Whether you’re drawn to the calm order of geometric shapes or the exhilaration of unexpected color bursts, there’s something in my work that will speak to you.
